YI IoT

YI IoT is the official Yi Techonology app for using and managing YI IoT surveillance cameras. That said, it's important to note that this app is only compatible with the international version of these cameras. This app won't work properly if you have a Chinese version of these surveillance cameras, which are managed by a different app.

In order to use YI IoT, you must have a registered user account. Fortunately, the registration process is very quick, in part because you can use your Facebook account. After that, you can customize your profile by changing your name and choosing an avatar. From the options menu, you can also manage other aspects of this tool, such as your subscription type or photos and videos you want to save.

This is a very important aspect of YI IoT: if you want to get the most out of your surveillance camera, you'll need to pay for one of the various subscription plans. Otherwise, the recordings won't be stored on the cloud, so you won't be able to access them; in this case, you'll only be able to see what's happening in real time. Simply put, without a subscription, you'll miss out on many of the advantages that come with having a surveillance camera.

When you're setting up one of these surveillance cameras, you can customize the type of alerts you want to receive from the app itself. The most common alert sends you a notification when it detects the slightest movement, although you can reduce this sensitivity, in which case it only sends notifications when it detects a more noticeable movement. That's because, with the most sensitive alerts, the fluttering of a curtain is enough to set off the alarms.
